These days, there seems to be a lot of confusion about what is A WEIGHT LOSS DIET and what IS NOT A DIET.
When a program says it's "not a diet," is it really NOT A DIET?
You will now routinely hear diet experts parroting the mantra “Diets don’t work,” then going on to spell out what, when and how much you should eat. For “diet” they have merely substituted the euphemism “permanent lifestyle change.” You are told to banish junk foods from your pantry forever, to resign yourself to low-fat, low-calorie or low-carb substitutes for your favorite foods forever, to exercise daily forever, to stop eating three hours before bedtime forever, to monitor portion sizes forever, and so forth. This is the same old same old sensible advice that doesn’t work because few people can follow it forever. The point is that if you are following rules about what, when and how much to eat, you are on a diet, regardless of what you choose to call it.
What do you think? How do you define A WEIGHT LOSS DIET? Do you know of any weight loss program that is NOT A DIET?

I bought Dr. Phil's Ultimate Weight Loss Solution because he said his approach was not a diet. But after reading it, I felt like I had been ripped off, because to me it was a diet. He was recommending that I eat certain foods and not eat other foods. Or not eat at certain times of the day. His program is clearly just another diet. And this is clearly a case of another celebrity cashing in at the expense of overweight people's esperation to find somehing that will actually work.

I think that a 'weight loss diet' is a planned method of eating in which the loss of weight is the goal and food is considered the problem. It only focuses on the outside of a person and completely disregards the reality that people get fat because of how they think and what they believe to be true of food, eating food, and themselves. A weight loss diet is just a bandaid. A change of mind and belief is the whole operation! We need to realize that our external world will sooner or later succumb to our internal life. So the real goal is to find the right inner life. As it is written,"AS a man believes within himself, so it is with him." Donna

Wow! This is really the most revolutionary tool that I've come across. I think deep down we all know it's common sense. It's the implementation that seemed to be so tough. This book gives us the tools to actually do what we need to do. I'm so glad I found it. I've only used it for about a week, but I already notice a change in my body- and my attitude! Best few dollars I've ever spent in my whole life!!!

All diets promise much, but deliver little to nothing. On the one hand, almost all of the books, will tell you not to restrict calories, then later in the book give you a detailed reduced calorie-controlled eating "plan". They discourage you from listening to your body's wisdom, for fear you will eat out of control if you do, or your metabolism will lower, or you'll sacrifice lean muscle mass. My last diet and I do mean last, was the 3 Hour Diet. I got to eat every 2-1/2 to 3hrs. The book said this style of eating would prevent the body from going into starvartion mode and prevent the metabolism from slowing. In fact it would run hotter and burn many more calories even while you were sleeping. Well, my metabolism didn't run any faster. It took me 12 weeks to lose 6 pounds, yet in two weeks of Thintuition I have lost 3. The "proof is in the pudding" [pun intended]. Finally, I have found a plan that works and that I can follow for the rest of my life.

I am done with diets! I have tried almost everything: Bob, Phil, Dr. Atkins, Scarsdale, Weight Watchers and many many fads, but the one thing they all had in common is that I was never enjoying what I was eating in the moment. I was always thinking about what I could eat next and how much. I love thintuition because I tune in to me and what my needs and desires are. When they are satisfied I am done. And I don't think about food again til I have a need for more fuel. Yes, I still have some habits I have to break, but it is because I have used food in other ways, rather than its intended purpose: i.e. using food as a stress reliever or something to do!

Even when I have had limited success with a diet, I am discouraged because I know I don't want to eat this way for the rest of my life, but there seems to be no alternative.

I think I have FINALLY found the answer to all my weight problems. I am only 27 years old and I have joined Weight Watchers 13 times! Every time I joined I would swear to myself it would be my last time. The last time I joined I stayed on the "lifestyle change" for 3 days before binging on candy and doughnuts. Needless to say I have attempted Slim Fast, Atkins, The Carbohydrate Addict, South Beach, Nutri System, Body for Life, and the list goes on. DIETS DO NOT WORK! Thintuition might take longer because you have to pay attention while you are eating, but it makes more since than diet I have EVER heard of.
